Today, I finally bought a book about going vegetarian.  It's an idea I've liked for months now, and while I haven't quite made the plunge yet, I'm way excited.  Thinking about leaving yogurt open as an option, but since straight dairy doesn't really agree with my digestive system anyway, it shouldn't be a problem.  Maybe eggs if they're in a bread, but I don't like straight eggs.  Still deciding about fish.  Still deciding about all of this, really.

This is all for health purposes, really.  I've heard so much about how healthy vegetarians are, and it makes me jealous, so I'm on the brink of going veg myself.  Not TOO much of a leap, 'cause I almost never eat red meat if I can help it, and chicken is becoming less and less appealing, and I really do love veg meals.  So uh.  Thinkin' about it.  Might allow myself unagi now and then, 'cause it's awesome.  Either way, I probably won't be super-strict.  I definitely want to keep honey as an option.  Not that I use it a lot, but I like it.

That's interesting cuz that's just about exactly where I am now, too. I've been vegetarian in the past, though not vegan, and I like the idea of not being overly rigid (which means leaving a loophole for the occasional sushi indulgence)
My 12-year old went veggie eight months ago and I've been sort of passively following along, mostly cuz I don't want to cook two different meals every night.
Given environmental concerns, the politics of global food distribution, personal economics, and general health concerns, it really makes sense today.

Yes, veggies are cheaper than meat!

I hope I'm not intruding; my girlfriend [livejournal.com profile] micaturtle often recommends your LJ and fan-fiction to me and I finally decided to check it out. :-)

I just wanted to wish you all the best with this exciting and big change. I was vegetarian for a couple years, and vegan for one. Unfortunately I wasn't one of those healthy vegetarians - I am a junk and convenience food lover - so almost two years ago I went back to the "dark side" if you will. Heh. I'm sure you are going at this more realistically than I did, so I'm sure you'll do fine.

Anyway, I added you to my friends list on here mainly because you're a fellow TMNT fan. Also, I agree with what you have to say (that post about writing angst is dead-on) and I enjoy how you say it. So, I hope you don't mind. :-)

Please take care,
Jenn

Don't mind at all! I'm very open.

I have a friend who is vegetarian. She doesn't eat fish, or meat products... But remember to still get your dairy, and if you don't want to take iron supplements, try adding spinach in your diet to keep up your iron levels.

Baby spinach salad is really delicious if you cut u some chives, cucumbers and tomato's in it. :D Good luck!
